Vigyan Saroj Care Foundation Spreads Warmth Across 7 Cities with Creative Winter Relief Drive

India, January 2025 – In a shining example of compassion, innovation, and swift action, the Vigyan Saroj Care Foundation successfully executed a creative and heartwarming charity drive, distributing 1111 winter kits across seven cities—Bangalore, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Raipur, Indore, Jodhpur, and Delhi—within just 15 days during the severe cold wave of 2025.

Each thoughtfully assembled winter kit contained one warm blanket, two pairs of socks, and two packets of glucose biscuits, offering both physical comfort and nourishment to those most affected by the biting winter.

At the heart of this impactful initiative was the Foundation’s visionary leader, Dr. Varsha Thakur, whose mission was to ensure that warmth reaches the underprivileged beyond words. Her dedication turned a simple idea into a life-saving movement, reaching vulnerable populations living on streets, railway platforms, construction sites, slums, and even among temple housekeeping staff—communities often overlooked during times of extreme weather.

Demonstrating extraordinary leadership, Dr. Thakur led all teams across the seven cities, closely coordinating logistics, volunteer mobilization, and distribution. She also personally took part in the kit distribution in Bangalore, exemplifying her belief in leading by example.

The initiative received enthusiastic support from diverse quarters. Residents and friends of Purva Fountain Square, Bengaluru, along with learnee professors from Sri Satya Sai College, Bhopal, emerged as major contributors, rallying behind Dr. Thakur’s inspiring philosophy rooted in the timeless words of John Heywood: "Many hands make light work."

This collective effort transformed a noble idea into a nationwide act of service. With meticulous planning, grassroots reach, and a spirit of unity, the Vigyan Saroj Care Foundation’s winter relief drive stands as a beacon of hope and humanity.

As temperatures dropped, this extraordinary mission rose—bringing warmth not only in the form of blankets and biscuits, but in the kindness, dignity, and care extended to those most in need. A truly extraordinary and successful charity drive that sets a powerful precedent for social responsibility across India.

A Vision of Compassion: Vigyan Saroj Care Foundation Restores Sight for 63 Underprivileged Senior Citizen Couples –

A Tribute of Love and Legacy

June 17, 2025 – A Day of Light and Legacy – In a heartwarming display of compassion and dedication, the Vigyan Saroj Care Foundation, led by Dr Megha Singh and Dr. Varsha Thakur, has pledged to provide free cataract surgeries for 100 underprivileged senior citizen couples. Already, 63 couples have had their eyesight restored, thanks to the initiative — bringing not just vision, but hope and dignity back into their lives.

This mission holds deep emotional significance for Dr. Varsha. On June 17, the death anniversary of her beloved parents, Late Shri Vigyan Singh Thakur and Smt. Saroj Thakur, she sponsored surgeries for 11 more couples and hosted Annadanam (community meal) for 200 patients, marking the day not in mourning, but in service and healing.

"This is not just a medical mission — it is my way of honoring my parents, who taught me to serve with heart," said Dr. Varsha, her voice filled with emotion.

The surgeries are conducted in collaboration with Sankara Eye Hospital, renowned for their excellence in ophthalmic care. The same hospital had once restored her father's sight, under the skilled hands of Dr. Umesh, making this partnership deeply personal for her.

With a tireless team of junior doctors, health camps are being held in surrounding rural villages, where potential patients are screened based on urgency. Those selected are brought to the hospital with free transportation, accommodation, meals, surgery, eyeglasses, post-operative kits, and complete aftercare — all fully sponsored by the Foundation.

This collective effort transformed a noble idea into a nationwide act of service. With meticulous planning, grassroots reach, and a spirit of unity, the Vigyan Saroj Care Foundation’s winter relief drive stands as a beacon of hope and humanity.

What sets this initiative apart is not just its scale, but the personal involvement of Dr. Varsha. She visits patients post-surgery, checking in on their wellbeing and encouraging them, offering not just medical aid but emotional support. Her commitment has created a chain of care where every patient is treated like family.

Dr. Varsha encourages the public to come forward and support this noble cause:

“Cataract is curable, but poverty blinds people to care. Every contribution, big or small, can help a senior citizen see their loved ones again.”

Dr. Varsha Thakur’s NGO Champions Dignity and Hygiene for Orphaned Children Through Undergarment Distribution Drive

By Jaya Reddy, Staff Reporter

Bangalore, November, 2024 – In a heartfelt initiative that highlights often-overlooked needs of orphaned children, Creatively Vigyan Saroj Care Foundation, led by founder Dr. Varsha Thakur, recently organized a unique distribution drive providing new undergarments and sanitary napkins to children in a local orphanage. The event also included an interactive awareness program focused on personal hygiene and self-care.

While donations to orphanages frequently include used clothes and blankets, the basic yet crucial necessity of clean undergarments is often ignored. "As parents, we ensure our children wear clean, comfortable undergarments every day," said Dr. Thakur. "Why then, when we donate, do we overlook the dignity and hygiene of these children?"

The drive is part of the foundation's broader mission to restore dignity and confidence to underprivileged children by addressing their fundamental needs—ones that are often invisible to society but critical to their physical and emotional well-being.

Dr. Thakur, who is also a public health advocate, conducted a session with the children to emphasize the importance of cleanliness, especially in the context of personal hygiene and menstrual health for adolescent girls. Through simple, engaging language and visuals, the session encouraged children to feel confident about caring for their bodies.

"Clean undergarments are not a luxury; they are a basic human need. They affect self-esteem, health, and even social behavior," Dr. Thakur explained during her address. "By giving these children the respect and care they deserve, we give them hope and confidence."

The event was met with smiles and gratitude, as children received packs of brand-new undergarments tailored to their sizes, along with sanitary napkins and hygiene kits. Volunteers and caregivers noted the joy and dignity it brought to the young recipients.

Creatively Vigyan Saroj Care Foundation has pledged to continue such initiatives, encouraging society to rethink what it means to give with empathy. As Dr. Thakur aptly concluded, "Let us donate not just what we can discard, but what we would choose for our own children."

Forgotten, But Not Forsaken: Vigyan Saroj Care Foundation Brings Dignity to the Sunset Years of Life

"They may have been abandoned by the world—but not by humanity."

Bengaluru, Karnataka: June 8, 2024 – On the morning of June 8th, 2024, the quiet halls of a small, ailing old age home came alive—not with noise, but with warmth, nourishment, and dignity. Vigyan Saroj Care Foundation, led by founders Dr. Megha Singh and Dr. Varsha, visited the shelter, home to 49 elderly men and women, all of whom have been left to fend for themselves in their final years.

Many are bedridden. Some have no memory of the families that once were. But all now share something precious—a sense of being seen.

In an act of heartfelt compassion, Dr. Megha and Dr. Varsha personally served sumptuous, nutritious meals, lovingly prepared to meet the health needs of each resident. Warm food. Clean clothes. A soft bed. These simple things, often taken for granted, now define the mission of the Foundation.

“We may not be able to give them what they’ve lost—family, companionship, memories—but we can ensure they eat well, sleep peacefully, and know they are not forgotten,” said Dr. Varsha, her voice heavy with both pain and purpose.

The Foundation has officially adopted this old age home, committing to ongoing care and provisions. Their goal: to ensure that every remaining year of life is lived with dignity—and that no elder sleeps hungry or cold again.

Though Dr. Varsha candidly admits that “feeling good” is something beyond her control—after all, emotional wounds from abandonment don’t heal easily—she and Dr. Megha have vowed to do everything in their power to make their twilight years comfortable, respectful, and meaningful.

The sight of the two doctors gently feeding, speaking, and listening to each senior—by name—is a rare testament to a kind of humanity that demands no applause but deserves all our attention.

This is not just charity. This is care. This is not just food. This is hope, served warm.

Let the world take notice. The elderly deserve more than survival. They deserve to eat good, wear good, sleep good—and above all, to feel valued.
